It works WAY better than the cheaper setup and if you take into account the filters you would have to buy for the cheaper one, a way better (and cheaper), deal. 0 of 0 found this review helpful: Humidistat did not function, 2008-04-12 Humidistat was either all on, or all off. While on, it became too humid and fogged windows creating mold. Also, after one tank of water, the boiling chamber had quite a bit of scale (our water is hard). So, it would have been a lot of maintenance to clean the boiling chamber. 0 of 0 found this review helpful: Would buy again, 2008-03-22 A little on the noisy side but this thing chugs out some water. It has a main tank (i.e. the refillable tank) and a smaller tank built into the base. When refilling, water from the smaller tank drips from the bottom of the main tank so a waterproof surface is required. Main tank is filled upside down (and is a pain to open/close since it has to be pretty tight to avoid spilling). The red light to indicate low water flashes on occassion while the main tank is full. Apparently the flow from the main tank to the smaller tank isn't constant and when the smaller tank dries, the light flashes (and switches off in a few seconds when water finally flows from the main tank). At max setting, you will need to refill every day. 0 of 0 found this review helpful: PLEASED, BUT . . ., 2008-03-02 I'm very pleased with this humidifier. I frankly don't understand the "loud boiling" criticism- it just isn't the case. I had several others from another manufacturer which I was very happy with but they were recalled due to a fire hazard and I ordered five of these as replacements. If they'd all worked I'd have given it a 5-star rating, but one of the 5 came D.O.A. Hopefully the reliability will exceed the initial quality control for these units! One further gripe- amazon recommends the HMP-12P replacement pads for this unit(see Honeywell HMP-12P QuickSteam Mineral Absorption Pad, 12 Pack)- THEY ARE NOT THE PADS THAT GO WITH THIS UNIT! They're larger and, since they were only $3.99 a box I'm not bothering to return them, so I'll cut them down to size and will use them, but that's an error on amazon's part which should be rectified. 0 of 0 found this review helpful: Good Warm Mist Humidifier, 2008-01-25 I got this product last October 2007, and don't have the noise issue that some have complained aoubt. I don't find it to be that noisy, but I'm not satisfied with the documentation. It's supposed to have a UV bulb to kill the germs, but I can't tell if it's working since to me it doesn't seem like there's a light on and the manual doesn't say anything. The included filters are great - the last Honeywell warm mist humidifier didn't have them included so it was a nice surprise that they included them. The only problem now is where can I get replacements?!? Otherwise, I really like it - nice simple design which doesn't take up too much space and the parts fit well together...
